My Favourite Coffee Spots in London.

Caffeine is no joke. And if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know its plays a big part in my life. My love for the stuff began a couple years ago, but living in London only made my desire for coffee grow.

Home to so many amazing independent coffee houses, you’re never more than short walk away from a delicious brew. Working a pretty demanding job meant that I relied heavily on caffeine to get me through the week, but also meant I stumbled across so many absolute beauties. For me, the notion of a quick ‘pick me up’ goes beyond just getting my fix. I found that whilst looking for coffee I was actually able to slow down, take in my surroundings and most importantly, re-charge.

With this in mind, here are my five favourtie London destinations that promise to serve a perfect batch time and time again.

1. Shoreditch Grind, EC1V 9NR

Grind is hardly an undiscovered spot, but the Old Street location ‘Shoreditch Grind‘ is one of my all time faves. My office was based in Bank, and my ex-partner worked in Shoreditch, so this spot was the mid-point between our two offices. Every Friday we’d take it in turns to treat the other to ‘coffee club’ and this was one of our locals. Rife with the hustle and bustle of morning commuters also after their fix, it’s the perfect pre-work pit stop. Along with their suuuper Instagrammable interiors (and exteriors), Grind also has the most ridiculous treats counter and divine brunch menu. It gets really busy at weekends so be sure to get there before 11am to avoid disappointment!

2. Ozone Coffee Roasters, EC2A 4AQ

Another mid-point between two offices, Ozone was an accidental discovery one morning whilst walking to work. Early doors opening times meant it was open pre-7am for us to pop in and grab a quick cup. A cool and quirky spot that serves delicious coffee and a pretty extensive weekend brunch menu. Their artisan coffee is roasted on site so the smell of freshly brewed coffee is enough to lure you in time and time again. Plus, the pastries are literally the size of your head. Win win.

3. Department of Coffee & Social Affairs, E1 6EA

Department of Coffee has 16 locations dotted around London, but my all time fave one has to be the one in Spitalfields. Tucked behind the market stalls, the coffee is as good as the interiors; minimalist with white walls, dark woods and excellent photography adorning its walls. The baristas know everything there is to know about their stock, and will talk you through their menu and blends ensuring you find the perfect brew. It has also become a bit of a social hub for freelancers and coffee lovers alike, so the atmosphere is spot on. Oh, and if you’re in the market for a tasty treat, their flapjack slabs are to-die-for.

4. Coffee House 607, N19 4DJ

If you’ve heard of Rinkoff’s & their incredible creation that is the Crodough, you’ll want to take a trip to 607. Son of Mr. Rinkoff and cafe owner Jonny, opened this beauty in January and it quickly became our new go to. Conveniently located about 3 minutes away from our flat, its safe to say we completed more than one loyalty card before moving back to Bath! You can expect exceptional coffee, ridiculously good baked goods & treats, freshly made out the back served to you by the friendliest staff imaginable. Jonny and his team made us feel super welcome and definitely kept us coming back for more.

5. Allpress Espresso Bar, E2 7DP

A trip to East London isn’t complete without a visit to Allpress Espresso Bar. This one featured a lot on my Instagram and I never got bored of it. Located on a street corner in Shoreditch, this swanky spot is theee coffee shop for serious coffee drinkers. I struggled to walk past without diving in head first for a long black!
